About Skeet

Eating chocolate cakeI’m Skeet, a single woman operating a small business and enjoying life on the Leeward Coast of Oahu, Hawaii. I have a grown son who is a pretty good guy and goofy beagle of impecable breeding and somewhat dubious character. I garden a little, read a lot and enjoy cooking and seeking out the hidden treasures of my island paradise. I like chocolate. A lot. Shopping online is a somewhat new passtime for me and becoming a hobby, I think, so I’ve created this little niche where I can explore and share it with others. I’ll be talking about my hands-on shopping in brick-and-mortar establishments, too. Hawaii is an expensive place to live. Most everything we buy here has to be shipped in, usually in huge container shipments delivered via cargo ships. I may post the prices I’m paying for common goods from time to time so we can compare and you can feel better about not living in paradise.

More about me:

I was born in Texas and raised just outside of New Orleans, so if you think you detect a little Southern in my accent, you’re probably right. I can’t hear it, but others tell me it’s there. I drink a gallon of iced tea daily. Most of my family has migrated back to the Dallas area. We don’t see each other very often, but my sister, brother, two nephews, their better halves and my two great nieces are all precious to me. Procrastination is a family trait, so no one seems to mind that holiday and birthday gifts sometimes lag by a year or so. We’re working on that.

I’ve always been a writer, but my efforts were for my eyes only until I got my first blog. It’s been surprising and very gratifying to find out that others are interested in what I have to say and like the way I say it. My musings are generally lighthearted and frequently delivered with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I don’t shy away from addressing serious matters when I think something is important enough to talk about. I’ll try to keep it interesting.
